American Cowards
--We Knew About Them Early-on
We learned early on that they would do anything to avoid going to Vietnam. We also learned that GWB, by age 52 had never had a successful adult enterprise, in the absence of being backed by or bailed out by his father or his father's friends. Cheney, being a great deal smarter ,could always figure a way to beat the system. A system he deemed too unstructured if he could use fraud to acquire five deferments to avoid serving his country in Vietnam then he could clearly lie his way into sending other peoples' children into war, leaving himself unscathed.
In these well known experiences both demonstrated early on that they were cowards, fearful of doing the right thing.
As such GWB proved easy to manipulate as long as he was not responsible. Gonzales found a myriad of legally questionable justifications that when narrowly construed provided the coward cover and hypocritical justification for many of his controversial social and economic decisions as Governor of Texas. Cheney, perceived as a very clever dogmatic manager, (bully) a typical trait of cowards, could be counted on to do all and any dirty work to achieve the myopic objectives of the cabal of post Goldwater conservatives emerging as neo-cons.
Cowards always prefer secrecy rather than open and transparent methods in which to conduct the publics' business. Witness Cheney's management of US energy policy. Bush's deceptions spanning events from 9/11 to the recent disclosures about the NIE on Iranian nuclear capability.
Now, all President's lie but there are limits. His father was clearly transparent about getting Iraq out of Kuwait. He was also up front about the need to raise taxes after promising he wouldn't. His "rotten seed" lied about the war, beneficiaries of his tax cuts, trade policies, domestic transfer of sovereign authority, raping the public fisc (privatization), and judicial, administrative oversight. And, what about the start of this reign of the corporate fascists, his failed attempts to be elected, he had to have Jim Baker pressure the Supreme Court into appointing him, the second time around he promised immunity to those who caged votes and, in Ohio shielded the Uncle Tom who arranged to steal over 600K votes from Black and poor voters by shifting polling places and destroying absentee ballots among other violations of voter rights.
If we need a hierarchy of cowards based upon those that did the most harm to Constitutional Democracy in a Republic Bush and Cheney appear at the very top, Roosevelt, Nixon, and Reagan are way down the list.
Congressman Wexler needs the support of all those who cherish our Constitutional form of governance. Please support hearing on the impeachment of Bush/Cheny, et.al. by going to http://www.wexlerwantshearing.org
